Two of the music NFT strategy tips that are becoming clear: you can give NFTs away rather than sell them, and you can tie them into other aspects of your marketing campaigns. Arden Jones is the latest example of both.

Jones is an artist who has just released the latest in his ‘age tape’ series of three-track EPs, which debut on the first Thursday of every month. Fans were encouraged to pre-save ‘age tape 6’ by the giveaway of a free NFT based on artwork by his creative director SJ Spreng.

Jones’s label vnclm_ – a joint venture with Atlantic Records – worked with web3 firm unsha·pe on the promotion, with Spreng suggesting that the NFT will be “just a key to unlock all of the other amazing exclusives and projects we want to share” in the future.

Besides NFTs, Jones has also been picking up steam on TikTok, where he has 281.9k followers, and on Spotify, where the ‘age tape’ series has helped him grow to nearly 1.5 million monthly listeners.
