Break My Soul? Beyoncé is certainly on track to break a few records on TikTok, having joined the app and posted her first video yesterday. No, not a sullen ‘the label have told me I have to do TikToks’ grumble, but a compilation of clips of fans dancing and reacting to her latest single.
At the time of writing it’s 15 hours after the announcement dropped, and Beyoncé’s profile already has 3.5 million followers on TikTok. As is customary when a big artist joins the platform, she’s bringing her music. Beyoncé’s back catalogue is now fully available for use by other people on TikTok.
As one of the biggest stars to have still been resisting the lure of the platform, Beyoncé joining is another feather in TikTok’s cap, following a bumpy period of stories about artists’ social-media burnout where the app was cited as a prominent factor.
