lollapalooza discord

A growing number of artists and music brands are using Discord for their fan communities, but the company is also forging some official partnerships in our world.

The latest example is a deal with US music festival Lollapalooza, which has launched an official Discord server for this year’s event later this month.

The server includes channels for topics including artists, food, memes and travel; links to maps, schedules and a promotional game; and will also host “select live streams” of performances during the festival.

Meanwhile, Discord will have a presence at the physical event itself, with a branded Discord Stage and an “exclusive Discord lounge” for some lucky punters.

So, a festival setting up a Discord server is interesting but not that unusual an idea: what’s noteworthy here is Discord getting more involved with a proper partnership – which we can imagine may lead to other music activations.
