mandolin

Mandolin came to prominence in 2020 as one of the startups helping artists to livestream as the Covid-19 pandemic took hold and shut down physical concerts.

It has since raised significant funding ($5m in 2020 then $12m in 2021), acquired rival NoonChorus, and most recently launched its own partner network of venues and promoters.

Its next move? Fan analytics and a richer-media take on smart links.

Mandolin is launching two new services for artists. ‘Fan Navigator’ blends Mandolin’s own data on fans who watch an artist’s livestreams with Chartmetric’s streaming and social data, while wrapping in ‘playbooks’ to help musicians market to those fans.

Meanwhile, ‘Fan Pages’ are artist-branded landing pages pitched by Mandolin as “a link in bio on steroids” designed to “replace boring rows of link boxes with rich media embeds, tour and merch store integrations, and survey and follower gates”.

It could be interesting, with the evergreen caveat that the big link-in-bio players could also go down this path in the future.
