There’s some good news for Meta’s musical VR game Beat Saber this morning – and for the artists and labels who have made song packs available for sale within it. From August, the game will be bundled with every new Meta Quest 2 headset sold by the company.
Described as a “limited time” deal, it will mean buyers can download the game for free, thus widening the funnel of players who might then buy tracks and packs from Beat Saber’s in-game store. That’s the good news, although there is something that could rein in sales a bit too: Meta is increasing the price of the Quest 2 headset.
Also from August, it’ll cost $399.99 and $499.99 for its 128GB and 256GB versions: $100 more than their existing prices. “The costs to make and ship our products have been on the rise,” explained Meta.
