Congratulations are due to Ed Sheeran. First for becoming the first artist to reach the milestone of 100 million followers on Spotify… and second, for an amusing celebration video showing his live team not giving a toss about the achievement.
Absolutely mental. What an achievement Ed. Congrats! 👏 @spotify pic.twitter.com/Sber0327ap

It is a notable milestone, although just as useful a figure is Sheeran’s 81.3 million monthly listeners on Spotify, which currently makes him the top artist on the service by the latter metric.
How does all this compare to his audience (or at least his notional following, given the vagaries of algorithms) on other platforms? Well, Sheeran’s YouTube channel has 52.2 million subscribers; his Instagram is followed by 39.7 million people; and his Twitter by 17.6 million.
Oh, and let’s not forget TikTok, where he has 12 million followers. That Spotify milestone video has, naturally, been published on the latter three platforms, if not yet as a YouTube Short.
