Geoff Taylor, the Chief Executive Officer of UK record label trade body the BPI, who also oversees the BRIT Awards and the Mercury Prize, has announced his intention to move on in 2023, after 15 years leading the BPI. In the decade prior to the BPI, he also worked in senior legal roles at the IFPI. He leaves the BPI with recorded music in the UK in a very healthy state in terms of consumption and income. Taylor is looking to move into “a directly commercial role” after he leaves in 2023, and has agreed to stay on at the BPI until early next year to help new Chair YolanDa Brown find an appropriate successor.
