Electronic-music brand Resident Advisor launched its RA Podcast in 2006 as a way to release DJ mixes, and has since built up a catalogue of more than 800 episodes. Now it’s bringing some of those mixes to Apple Music, starting with 15 episodes.
The key thing here being that streams of the mixes will generate royalties for the featured DJs, the artists whose tracks are included, and Resident Advisor itself. More mixes will be released at monthly intervals.
This is happening as part of a wider initiative from Apple Music’s UK division: a month of mixes, playlists, radio shows and interviews devoted to electronic music. Curated by the Apple Music Dance team, there’ll be DJ mixes from the likes of Paul Oakenfold, Chase & Status, Idris Elba, Boiler Room and various Ibiza clubs, and nostalgic celebrations of albums and live performances from artists including M.I.A. and Fatboy Slim.
