The boss of UK indie labels body AIM, Paul Pacifico, is stepping down from the role this year. His second three-year term ends on 31 October, although he will remain as CEO until the end of 2022 as part of a handover process, with recruitment already under way for his successor.
Pacifico joined AIM in 2016 after holding the same role at the Featured Artists Coalition, and besides overseeing the expansion of AIM’s events and educational initiatives, has been one of the figures at the centre of the UK’s debates over the streaming economy and its impact on artists.
That sound you can hear is various chairs falling over as people jump to the conclusion that Pacifico’s next job may be CEO of British labels body the BPI, whose boss Geoff Taylor recently announced his plans to step down in 2023.
We’ll have to wait and see on that front: Taylor said he would be working with BPI chair YolanDa Brown on that succession plan.
