Fresh from raising a $1m seed funding round, marketing agency East Goes Global is launching a distribution arm that will focus on getting western artists’ music onto Chinese streaming services.
Tencent Music’s QQ Music and Kugou Music, as well as NetEase Cloud Music, are among its first DSP partners, while instrumental music label Acrylic Label is one of its first clients.
The news represents a step on for East Goes Global’s business, which has previously focused on helping western artists to build their audiences in China through events and social media. That included executive producing livestreams for Westlife and the Backstreet Boys on Chinese social app WeChat, with the latter event watched by 44.2 million people in June this year.
