Apple appears to have released a new music-related app this week, although without the announcement hubbub that would usually accompany such a launch.

That’s because it’s tightly focused on a particular aspect of Apple’s music business: artist development team Platoon, which it acquired in 2018.

News site 9 to 5 Mac reported on the quiet release of the Platoon for Artists app on Apple’s App Store this week. The free app is billed as a way for Platoon artists to “manage content, streams, revenue, and more”. It includes analytics (“across all platforms” not just Apple Music) as well as a royalties dashboard, and a section to “share content to promote your new and prior releases”.

According to 9 to 5 Mac, the app requires artists to be working with Platoon already to use it.
