bjork podcast

Artists can launch podcasts, but should they? Only if they’re interesting enough is the blunt answer to that question. Someone who clearly meets that bar is Björk, so we’re looking forward to hearing her upcoming show ‘Björk: Sonic Symbolism‘.

It’s a partnership with marketing platform Mailchimp and digital media firm Talkhouse that will launch its first three episodes on 1 September, followed by weekly updates. Each episode will see Björk discussing one of her albums with philosopher Oddný Eir and musicologist Ásmundur Jónsson, focusing on their “textures, timbres and emotional landscapes”.

The series will range from 1993’s ‘Debut’ to 2017’s ‘Utopia’, with each of the nine albums getting 40-50 minutes of discussion.

Although with her tenth album ‘Fossora’ on the way later this year, we suspect there may be an additional episode for that too.
