Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow take Snapchat’s AR tech on tour

Snapchat and Live Nation announced a partnership around augmented reality (AR) and live concerts earlier this year. Now we’re seeing how that plays out with specific artists. Lil Nas X is one of them. Fans at his ‘Long Live Montero’ tour are being given a physical ‘playbill’ which they can scan using Snapchat to unlock an AR experience and voice message.

There’s also a ‘Lil Nas Transcending’ feature that will work with Snapchat’s camera during the show to add a layer of AR glitz that’s synchronised to the visuals on-stage. Oh, and a butterfly-wings selfie lens too.

Jack Harlow is also part of the Live Nation / Snapchat partnership. On his current ‘Come Home the Kids Miss You’ tour, fans will be able to buy his merch from his Snapchat profile, and scan ‘Snapcode’ tags on the merch to unlock digital shizzle. There’s also a ‘Flights of Fancy’ AR experience based on his ‘First Class’ track, and a selfie lens geotargeted to each show location on the tour.
