Marathon Labs startup incubator returns with new cohort

Independent firm Marathon Artists launched its own accelerator for music/tech startups in 2016, before holding a second cohort in 2017 and a third in 2020. After a global-pandemic interlude, Marathon Labs is now returning in 2022 with a focus on ‘value creation’.

Six startups have been chosen for this year’s cohort. MuXical is a streaming platform for virtual concerts, artist holograms included, while RootNote is an analytics service for artists, their teams and other digital creators.

Hidden Bands is exploring augmented reality and geo-location technology for music discovery, while RoyFi is the latest fintech startup paying advances to artists against their future royalties.

Finally, Un:hurd focuses on music-marketing technology, and Frow is a service helping people sell vinyl records through live-video shopping streams.

It’s an interesting group of companies who’ll now get the chance to refine their offerings by working with Marathon’s team and artists.
