Spotify is preparing for its annual festive social-media blitz in the form of its Wrapped promo, where artists and fans alike share their streaming stats for the year.

Spotify hasn’t announced a launch date for Wrapped 2022 yet, but it does want artists to start preparing, promising that “in 2022, we’re making Wrapped the biggest one yet and introducing new ways for fans to connect with the artists they listened to most”.

The company has published a guide for artists on how to get ready, including a new feature that enables them to record a 30-second video message thanking fans for their support. The message (which must include “no music, singing, or lyrics; no explicit content; no logos or brands; and no added text, graphics, or filters”) will be shown to some of their fans within the Wrapped experience.

Spotify is also encouraging artists to update their merch and ticketing integrations with its service; set up Fan Support links for direct tips or donations to charities; and update their profiles.
