It’s the 25th MOBO Awards later this month: a long-running event that’s played a key role in celebrating Black music and Black British artists.
It’s not just an awards ceremony though: one of parent organisation the MOBO Group’s other initiatives is ‘MOBOLISE’, which launched in beta in 2020 as a recruitment and mentorship platform.
Now Sony Music’s in-house distributor arm The Orchard has signed up as one of its ‘Trailblazer’ partners, joining the likes of PPL, Burberry, NBCUniversal, HSBC and Superdry on that roster.
The focus for the platform is on helping Black industry professionals overcome systemic barriers. CEO Kanya King CBE said that it “will help to build an inclusive culture within companies and further embed DE&I [diversity, equity and inclusion] into partners’ brand DNA.”
