It’s that moment in the year when music streaming services try to get their end-of-year charts and promotions out without clashing with (and thus being flattened by) the social-media juggernaut that is Spotify Wrapped.
Deezer timed it well, publishing its roundup yesterday under the banner of #DeezerAwards. ‘As It Was’ by Harry Styles was the most-streamed track this year on Deezer, while Bad Bunny’s ‘Un Verano Sin Ti’ was the most-streamed album.
The Bunster looks set to be the big winner across 2022’s DSP end-of-year charts, having already nabbed Apple Music’s ‘artist of the year’ award. He wasn’t the most-streamed artist on Deezer however: that gong went to The Weeknd, while the most-streamed band or ensemble were Imagine Dragons.
Deezer also named its five artists to watch in 2023: Flo, Ayra Starr, Oklou, Yune Pinku and SoFayGo.
