It turns out that even ‘free-speech absolutists’ have, well, an absolute limit to the hate content that they’ll tolerate on their newly-acquired social network.
Elon Musk confirmed yesterday that Kanye West has been re-suspended from Twitter. “I tried my best. Despite that, he again violated our rule against incitement to violence,” tweeted Musk. “Account will be suspended.”
So, the suspension was not the direct result of West’s Hitler-praising appearance on conspiracy theorist Alex Jones’s Infowars show yesterday, but rather to his follow-up tweets. One of those tweets was a picture of a swastika intermingled with a Star of David, although it’s unclear whether other since-deleted tweets were also factors in the suspension.
Either way, West is back posting on Donald Trump’s Truth Social platform (despite having fallen out with Trump in a big way this week) but in separate news, is apparently no longer buying another app popular with the far-right: Parler.
