It’s still Recap Week in streaming-land, with YouTube publishing its regional charts of popular videos, Shorts, creators and – most relevantly from Music Ally’s perspective – songs.

Its parent page for the various trends recaps is here, from the US, UK and Germany to Brazil, Mexico and the Middle East and North Africa.

There’s an individual blog post for the US rankings, with the chart of top songs headed not by Bad Bunny (he was in fourth and sixth) but by the Encanto Cast’s ‘We Don’t Talk About Bruno’. Released at the very end of 2021, the video has so far been watched 503.5m times globally.

Meanwhile, the UK top 10 includes eight tracks from British artists – the first time this proportion has been achieved by homegrown acts according to YouTube.

It’s a similar story in Germany, where local artists also dominate the top 10 (which is also the reason this morning’s news writing has been soundtracked by Twenty4Tim’s ‘Bling Bling’ – thank us later).
