In October, the UK’s Music Venue Trust announced its latest fund to help grassroots venues who are struggling: the Pipeline Investment Fund. Now it has named the first 11 venues to benefit, distributing nearly £40k ($48.8k) to help them undertake “a range of lighting, sound and associated equipment purchases, air conditioning units and building work”.
MVT says the Pipeline fund is designed for venues who may have been squeezed out of other financial support schemes that have been launched in the UK since the Covid-19 pandemic emerged in 2020.
Boss Mark Davyd is keen to bolster the fund with the help of the bigger fish in the live music industry. “We’d like to see every stadium and arena show in the country making a small contribution to this fund,” he said. “Every headline artist should be able to know with confidence that when they reach the top of our industry the impact of their success ripples back to directly support the venues and communities where the launched their career.”
