tiktok year 2022

TikTok is the latest big digital service to publish its end-of-2022 lists, and as expected music features prominently in the most popular videos and creators on the app.

Yung Lean’s ‘Ginseng Strip 2002’ was crowned as the top track on TikTok globally, ahead of Nicky Youre & dazy’s ‘Sunroof’ and Willow’s ‘Wait a Minute’. The Yung Lean track was used in 10.9m videos by TikTokers.

Meanwhile, sitting atop the list of ‘breakthrough creators’ on TikTok this year was a musician who’s been doing very well in the streaming giants’ rankings: Bad Bunny. Since joining TikTok at the start of the year, he’s grown his audience on the app to 29.7 million people.

TikTok also published a chart of the top music artists on its platform in the US, with Lizzo taking the top spot ahead of Bella Poarch, Bad Bunny, Charlie Puth and Doja Cat. Poarch, of course, is the most native TikToker of the lot, using her popularity on the app as the springboard for a music career this year.
