Blokur

Licensing and data firm Blokur is ending 2022 with a significant deal: it’s going to be providing a copyright hub for independent publishing licensing agency IMPEL.

“By combining the unique repertoire of IMPEL’s publisher members with Blokur’s unrivalled data and matching technologies, we are creating a platform for independent music publishers that will help them seize the full opportunity of the rapidly evolving world of online music,” said Blokur CEO Phil Barry.

IMPEL CEO Sarah Williams added that she sees the deal as an opportunity for the agency to be “proactive, assertive and future-facing” in the current (and future) digital environment.

Blokur recently published its annual Songwriters Review report based on its analysis of the top tracks (and thus compositions) on the four biggest global streaming services.
