In November we reported on former WMG exec Scott Cohen’s plans to launch a fractionalised music royalties startup. Now we know what it’s called – JKBX (pronounced Jukebox) – and who its senior management team will be for its full launch in 2023.
Cohen has hired former Spotify global head of artist and talent relations Whitney Gayle Benta as chief music officer for JKBX, and former Ntwrk and Foot Locker exec Jason Brown as chief marketing officer.
CMO Jason Brown (ex NTWRK and Foot Locker); CTO Matt Brown (Arthur, Citadel, Ripple); CISO Madhav Gopal (Comcast, PwC); chief communications officer and public affairs officer Jacqueline Ortiz Ramsay (Robinhood); chief legal officer Scott Shipman (Dapper Labs, eBay) and COO Sam Thacker (McKinsey & Co) round out the management team.
JKBX says it has “billions in exclusive catalogue rights” ready to be sold in its fractionalised system, claiming that “all other music fractionalisation platforms combined equal 0.5 percent of what JKBX will go to market with and offer consumers the first day it launches.”
All eyes on whose rights it has secured next year.
