While TikTok continues to butt heads with major label licensing teams behind closed doors over its next set of deals, there is at least one new agreement to report.
TikTok has signed a licensing deal with MENA-based Rotana Music Group, covering its Arab music catalogue. This means music from a host of popular regional artists will be available on TikTok, with the latter stressing that its app is “hugely popular” across the Middle East and North Africa.
The deal continues a busy period for Rotana’s dealmaking and investment strategy. In February 2021 Warner Music Group acquired a stake in Rotana, and more recently in April 2022 the label brought its music back to MENA streaming service Anghami, after nearly four years of exclusivity with Deezer.
