Toks off! It’s Only Tok’n’Roll (But I Like It)! ‘For You’ Can’t Always Get What You Want! Honky Tok Women! And we’re still working on a line about giving parents their 19th nervous breakdown. News that the Rolling Stones and (separately) Mick Jagger have joined TikTok is a punster’s paradise.
As with other such announcements, this is about both setting up a profile and making their back catalogue available on TikTok for people to use in their videos.
The competitive dynamics within the band can only be improved by the fact that Keith Richards beat Jagger to TikTok by joining last year. He’s since attracted 88.2k followers, but a day after joining Jagger is already on 54.4k, while the main Stones account has raced to 150.7k at the time of writing.
TikTok noted that hashtags related to the band had already been used on videos with more than 500m views.
