Warner Music Group became one of the landowners on web3 virtual world The Sandbox in January 2022. While we shudder to think of what the crypto crash has done to the value of that land, WMG remains committed to the platform.
It’s holding a release party for Spinnin’ Records’ ‘World’s Biggest Demo Drop‘ DJ talent contest. It’s quite the party too, running from 26 January to 8 February.
The contest’s winners will see their music played within the party, and they’ll also be making virtual appearances – albeit as non-playing characters (NPCs) rather than live.
It’s not the only web3 angle for this year’s contest either: WMG says that the winners’ tracks will be released through Spinnin’ Records, but also as NFTs via another of its partnerships: LGND Music, which was announced in December.
