‘Beyond The Instrument’ is Sony’s music education initiative to get equipment, knowledge and the odd musical star into the hands, heads and classrooms of young people.
This year, it’s expanding from the US to also include the UK, with a program held at the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Los Angeles, and the Harris Academy Greenwich school in London.
Students will be able to use recording equipment (courtesy of partners Notes for Notes in the US and Fender in the UK) as well as getting access to workshops and software to help them create music.
These follow previous years’ campaigns in California, Tennessee and Florida since ‘Beyond The Instrument’ was launched in 2021. The UK program will also see the chosen school visited by Sony Music artist Cat Burns, who’s currently riding high with three Brit Award nominations.
