Amazon Music bags six George Ezra tracks as spatial originals

Music streaming services love original content, and some of them also love spatial audio. British artist George Ezra is thus sitting in a very sweet spot for Amazon Music with his new Amazon Original release.

It’s six tracks from his ‘Gold Rush Kid’ album, re-recorded at Metropolis Studios in London and mixed in Sony’s 360 Reality Audio format.

Amazon Music Unlimited has a three-month period of exclusivity on the release, and has teamed up with Sony to offer a four-month free trial of Music Unlimited alongside the EP’s release.

What happens after the three months are up? Well, 360 Reality Audio is also supported by Tidal and live-focused DSP Nugs·net, so the EP could be released on those platforms, but if Ezra and his label want to put it on Apple Music it’ll presumably need a Dolby Atmos remix (or a re-re-recording!).
