British music industry body the BPI has a new CEO to replace its outgoing boss Geoff Taylor. It has turned to expertise from outside the music industry in the form of Dr Jo Twist OBE.

She’s well versed in the business of industry associations however: Twist is currently CEO of Ukie, a trade body for the British games industry. She’s had that role since 2012, having previously worked in education and interactive media roles at the BBC and Channel 4.

Twist will join the BPI in July, until which time the body’s chief strategy officer Sophie Jones will continue as interim CEO.

“In what was a competitive recruitment process she showed great passion, drive and a big heart for music,” said BPI chair YolanDa Brown OBE DL.

“Jo has outstanding credentials and, along with her fresh perspective, she will bring a rich breadth of experience garnered in games and across the creative industries.”
