PizzaExpress is launching its own record label in the UK

If Music Ally is sitting in a PizzaExpress restaurant, the only 12-inch round object we’re interested in has an egg on top and is called a Fiorentina. But now there’s another option: vinyl records! The restaurant chain is launching its own label, PX Records, focusing on jazz and soul.

For any readers who don’t know PizzaExpress, this isn’t a strange move. The brand has a long association with music through live performances, particularly at its flagship venues in London. Amy Winehouse, Tony Bennett, Norah Jones, Van Morrison, Charlie Watts, Melody Gardot and numerous other jazz and soul musicians have played there since the 1970s.

PX Records will be partly releasing new albums from current acts, and partly drawing on its live recordings archive. The first two albums will be released in mid-April both physically (CD and vinyl) and digitally.
