Earlier this year, YouTube renewed its deal to livestream the Coachella music festival. Now it has revealed a major expansion in that coverage.
This year, YouTube will be streaming live from all six stages at the festival, across both its weekends. That’s double the number of stages streamed last year, with YouTube also making individual sets available to watch on repeat overnight on their day of broadcast.
YouTube is also using Coachella as an opportunity to promote YouTube Shorts, with specific activations and challenges around Calvin Harris, Becky G, Burna Boy and Blackpink during the festival.
More than a dozen artists will also be selling exclusive merch via YouTube during the event, including Harris, Bad Bunny, Gorillaz and Yungblud.
YouTube also said that some (as-yet unnamed) artists will be holding ‘YouTube Premium Pre-Parties’ before going on-stage, although only YouTube Premium subscribers will be able to tune in for those.
