We first wrote about Swedish startup Reactional Music nearly a year ago, when it signed an early deal for its adaptive music technology.
Now, as the company prepares for its launch this year, it has raised a pre-Series A funding round of $2.05m. The round was led by mobile music games publisher Amanotes and VC firm Butterfly Ventures.
What is Reactional Music building with that funding? A “rules-based music engine and delivery platform” that will help game developers to not only add music to their games, but to make the game ‘react’ to that music in real-time.
It has been signing licensing deals alongside this, with Hipgnosis one of the first music rightsholders on board. Reactional Music says that its tech is already being used in a game for Sony’s PlayStation 5 console and PS VR2 headset, with more pilot projects underway.
