The last time we wrote about producer Fraser T Smith, he was fronting TikTok’s new songwriters initiative. Now he’s launching a new scheme to support underrepresented producers.
It’s called the ‘Future Producer Academy’ and has backing from UK music licensing company PPL and the Music Producers Guild.
The scheme will pick emerging producers to work with Smith, as well as getting funding and education to help them build their careers. For PPL, that includes bringing in experts from its legal, finance, communications and industry engagement teams to help out.
“I’ve had an unorthodox career journey, and there have been many times when I’d loved to have a more experienced hand in the business sit down and help me understand how things work. The idea of the Producer Academy is to do just that,” said Smith (pictured above with PPL boss Peter Leathem).
