It’s clearly the day for new musical AR experiences. Alongside the launch of the Minibeats app, there’s news of an inventive new Daft Punk activation on Snapchat.

Wait what, new Daft Punk? Sorry, no reunion just yet: this is in aid of the 10th anniversary of the duo’s ‘Random Access Memories’ album.

Snapchat’s Parisian AR studio has created three experiences to celebrate the event. First, there’s an AR lens launching today (10 May) for fans to listen to ‘Horizon’ – a track originally only released as a bonus track on the Japanese version of the album.

Second, there’s an AR treasure hunt kicking off on 11 May, with fans in 10 cities (Paris, New York, LA, London, Berlin, Mexico City, Tokyo, Sydney, São Paulo and Buenos Aires) able to visit physical locations – discovered using clues posted on social media – to unlock another lens.

Finally, there will be billboard posters in eight cities (Paris, New York, LA, Mexico City, Sydney, London, Liverpool and Berlin) with a new ‘crystal helmet’ to play with in AR using Snapchat.
