Baidu planning licensed music search service by summer

Chinese search engine Baidu has announced details of its legal music search service, Baidu Ting. It’s due to launch in May, and will blend searches for legal streams and downloads of music with social features. The company has agreed a deal with the Music Copyright Society of China to pay fees for every song downloaded using Ting, which will be supported by advertising.

Google reveals its China pullout plans

As predicted, Google has stopped censoring its search, news and images sites in China, following its recent spat with the Chinese government over hack attacks on its services. Visitors to its Google.cn search engine are being redirected to its Hong Kong site, where they can find uncensored search results in simplified Chinese.
