Smart speakers to fuel ‘tenfold’ increase in smart-home devices

Research firm Forrester’s latest prediction for the smart-devices market focuses on the US alone, we should say. “Smart home devices are expected to grow tenfold between 2017 and 2022,” claimed the company in its latest blog post.

“Forrester expects the adoption of smart home devices in the US to be 10 times higher by 2022, driven by smart speakers and the devices that these speakers can control, such as smart bulbs and smart thermostats.”

The Kids are still alright with Facebook, says Forrester

It’s been received wisdom for some time now that young internet users are drifting away from Facebook in favour of other social and messaging apps. But is it true?

Research firm Forrester has published the results of a new survey of 4,517 American 12-17 year-olds that it claims shows Facebook still has BFF status with teens.

“Facebook remains young users’ favourite social network. More than three-quarters of online youth use Facebook — twice as many as use Pinterest or Tumblr or Snapchat, and more than use Instagram and WhatApp combined,” explained Forrester analyst Nate Elliott in a blog post.
