David Guetta to perform in Sensorium Galaxy VR platform

In August we reported on a partnership between streaming service Tidal and virtual reality startup Sensorium Corporation, including plans for concerts within the latter’s Sensorium Galaxy platform when it launches next year.

Now it’s signed up a big artist: David Guetta. He’ll work with Sensorium to create a virtual Dave, who will be starring in his own series of performances in the world.

“VR lets us create a new form of art. It’s a next-level experience that goes way beyond just watching a DJ show on a screen,” promised Guetta.

Tidal makes social VR move with $7m purchase of Sensorium tokens

It seems to be the week for music streaming to meet virtual reality startups. VR firm MelodyVR announced plans to acquire Napster, and now Tidal is making an investment in VR company Sensorium Corporation.

It’s not a traditional deal though: Tidal has bought $7m in tokens issued by Sensorium – yes, that’s Music Ally’s blockchain klaxon you can hear wailing away: read more about ‘Senso Tokens’ here – as part of its Sensorium Galaxy social VR platform.

Due to launch next February, it’ll be a virtual world with an emphasis on music, dance and hanging out in VR nightclubs.
